Park Kyung-ho, Vice-Chairperson, Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC), Republic of Korea 

Mr. Park Kyung-ho oversees the general planning and implementation of the works of Anti-Corruption Bureau of the ACRC. He was appointed by the President as the vice chairperson of the ACRC in August 2016, thanks to his contribution to anti-corruption efforts as a prosecutor for 26 years.

Before joining the ACRC, since 2013 he was an attorney at Lee & Ko law firm, providing counseling on the Improper Solicitation & Graft Act. He had previously served the Prosecution as 2nd Chief Prosecutor at Suwon District Office, Director of Forensic Science Investigation Department, Director of Inspection Division I, etc. He was also a legal advisor to the ACRC in 2012. He received a LL.M. and LL. B at Yonsei University, Korea. He passed the bar examination in 1987.

Byung-Hwa Lee, President, Korea In-house Counsel Association and General Counsel of 3M Korea Ltd

Mr. Byung-Hwa Lee is General Counsel of 3M Korea Ltd. and the third chairman of the Korea Inhouse Counsel Association (“KICA”), which has a membership of about 1,780 in house counsels who were admitted to Korean bar. He currently serves as the head of Special Committee of In-house Counsel under the Korean Bar Association, an arbitrator of Korean Commercial Arbitration Board and an operating committee member for the Judicial Research and Training institute. Prior to joining 3M in 2008, he worked as an associate and partner for Kim, Chang & Lee, mainly in charge of competition law, M&A, labor law and general corporate matters. Mr. Lee received his LL.B and LL.M from Seoul National University and an LL.M from Vanderbilt University Law School.

Young Seok Lee, Secretary-General, Seoul International Dispute Resolution Center and Partner, Yulchon LLC

Young Seok Lee is a partner at the International Dispute Resolution Practice at Yulchon. He has handled international arbitration cases in various fields of industry, including international trade, distributorship, telecommunication, construction, engineering, shipbuilding, and insurance, under various international arbitration rules such as KCAB Rules, ICC Rules, ICDR Rules, SRIA Rules and UNCITRAL Rules. He has also handled a lot of disputes in the shipbuilding and insurance matters before Korean courts.  He is annually selected as a leading lawyer by various publications, including Chambers Global and Asialaw. He regularly speaks on international dispute resolution and also sits as an arbitrator. Since May 2015, he serves as the Secretary-General of the Seoul International Dispute Resolution Center (Seoul IDRC) and President of Korean Council for International Arbitration (KOCIA).

Heehwan Kwon, Director of International Cooperation Team, Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB)

Heehwan Kwon currently serves as Director of International Cooperation Team, Korean Commercial Arbitration Board. Mr. Kwon’s professional positions and memberships include Member, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb), and Managing Editor, Editorial Board of the Korean Association of Arbitration Studies (KAAS). 

Heehwan Kwon received his B.A. in Public Administration & Law from Yonsei University, Korea in 2001 and earned his masters of Investment Business Administration from KDI School of Public Policy and Management, Korea in 2006. Currently he is a Ph.D. candidate in International Trade & Logistics of Choong Ang University. Mr. Kwon is a native speaker of the Korean language and is fluent in English.

Ik-Sang Chung, Attorney, Microsoft Korea

Ik-Sang Chung is an Attorney of Digital Crimes Unit (DCU), a part of Corporate, External & Legal Affairs (CELA) of Microsoft Korea, Inc. He is in charge of Intellectual Property Law & Policy, Copyright & Trademarks Enforcement, License Compliance activities, Cybersecurity, etc. in Microsoft Korea.  Prior to joining Microsoft Korea in 2012, Ik-Sang was a senior associate of Yoon & Yang, LLC and worked on high profile Antitrust cases and counseled major transnational and domestic companies on various legal issues under corporate and commercial laws of Korea.  Ik-Sang graduated from College of Law, Yonsei University (LL.B) and completed Masters of Law (LL.M) from UC Berkeley School of Law. Ik-Sang was admitted to Korea Bar and the State of New York Bar, USA.       

Kenny Um, Senior Managing Counsel, International Legal Team, Hyundai Heavy Industries

Kenny Um serves as the Managing Counsel for the International Legal Team at Hyundai Heavy Industries, where he oversees all legal matters for the company’s international business. Mr. Um has handled various corporate, regulatory, and tax matters with a focus on litigation and international arbitration involving large scale disputes for both onshore and offshore construction projects. Having served in the International Legal Team for nearly a decade, Mr. Um has in-depth knowledge of the shipbuilding, construction and manufacturing industries. 

In addition to his time at HHI, Mr. Um also served as Senior Director of Legal for Entegris, Inc. and was responsible for all legal and compliance matters within the APAC region. Mr. Um is a native of New York, where he worked, prior to joining HHI, in private practice specializing in commercial litigation. Mr. Um received his B.A. from Brandeis University and his J.D. from St. John’s University. He is admitted to the bar in New York.  

Nicolai Nahrgang, Executive Managing Director, Head of Compliance APAC, Continental Group

Mr. Nahrgang is the Asia Pacific Head of Compliance of German automotive and tire manufacturer Continental. He has responsibility for overseeing the compliance organization in the APAC region. Previously, from 2009 to April 2014, Mr. Nahrgang was a senior attorney at Korean law firm Kim & Chang and from May 2014 to October 2015 the General Counsel of Continental Korea. Mr. Nahrgang started his legal career as M&A lawyer in the corporate department of US law firm Weil Gotshal & Manges LL.P.’s Frankfurt/M. office. He holds a doctoral degree from the University of Heidelberg and a master degree from Cornell Law School. Dr. Nahrgang is licensed as attorney in Germany and New York. 

Paul Cho, Vice President & Lead Counsel, GM Korea Company

Paul Cho is Vice President and Lead Counsel for GM Korea Co.  Paul is on GM Korea’s Executive Committee and heads the company’s Legal Department, which has responsibilities not only covering Korea but affiliated operations worldwide. 

Paul serves as a Co-Chair on AMCHAM’s HR Committee and was a Senior Partner / Co-Chair in the Labor and Employment Team at Lee & Ko and prior thereto, Co-Chair of the Labor and Employment Practice Group at Kim & Chang. He has been recognized by legal publications and the market for years as an expert in the field of labor and employment, particularly with respect to mergers & acquisitions, restructuring programs and crisis management for multinational companies. Paul received his J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law and B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Hyon Joon Jun, Director and Head of IPR Team, SK Planet

Hyon Joon Jun is a director and head of IPR team at SK Planet. Mr. Jun has begun his first career as a Korean patent attorney at Bae Kim & Lee, LLC since 2004. For 8 years he has been involved with numerous patent prosecution and IP R&D projects, and also represented IP cases on behalf of renowned IT∙Semiconductor companies before the patent court or board of appeal.

Mr. Jun started his second career as an in-house IP counsel and came to have an opportunity to be in charge of IPR team at SW/e-Commerce enterprise since December 2014. He is now handling with various IP matters such as patent/trademark prosecution, IP risk management, e-Commerce IPR policy, open-source compliance, standard-patent licensing, patent transactions and etc.

Mr. Jun has electrical engineering degree from Seoul National University and is currently MIP-candidate at School of law, Seoul National University.

Hyeon Tak Shin, Associate Professor, Korea University School of Law

After achieving doctoral degree (J.S.D.) at U.C. Berkeley Law School, Prof. Shin is teaching corporate law at Korea University Law School, and especially interested in Corporate Governance, Business-Government Relations, and Business Ethics.  Before joining Korea University, he was a practicing lawyer as a partner of Hwang Mok Park P.C. (Security & Finance team), and provided legal advices to many companies including overseas clients.  He was a general affairs director of Korea Commercial Law Association until last February, and is currently working at various committes of government and private associations such as Korean Bar Association and Korean Association of Law Schools.

Son-U Michael Paik, Vice President, Legal and Trade Team, SeAH Holdings

Son-U Michael Paik is an attorney (NY&CA), consultant and lecturer, based in Seoul, Korea. In his 20 years of professional experience in consulting and law practice, Michael has served as advisor or counsel for some of Korea's most prominent companies, and has assisted Korean, European and US clients in risk management as well as venture capital, public offering and merger transactions. Michael has also represented numerous start-up companies, as well as leading venture capital, private equity and investment banking firms. Michael has served in various in-house management positions, including as General Counsel of Hankook Tire and the STX Group.  He is currently heading the Legal & Trade Team at SeAH Holdings.

From 2004, Michael taught corporate law, technology transfer and energy transactions as a professor at Yonsei University’s College of Law, The Republic of Korea’s Judicial Research & Training Institute and Seoul National University’s College of Engineering, where he also served as Director of Technology Incubation, Chief Technology Officer for the University and Alumni Advisor for the International Energy Policy Program. From 2002, Michael has held various public positions, including as an elected member representing Silicon Valley to the board of directors for the California Young Lawyers’ Association, and legal advisor to the Korean Venture Capital Association, the Korean Nurses’ Association and the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority. He is a Trustee at the Inje Foundation, Korea’s oldest privately endowed foundation, holding five general hospitals and Inje University. 

Wankeun Lee, Compliance Officer & Chief Legal Advisor, Audit Group, KCC Corporation 

Wankeun is Compliance Officer & Chief Legal Advisor of KCC Corporation; responsible for embedding the Compliance Program in KCC and other 10+  subsidiaries across the world. He initialized Legal Advisory System as well as Compliance Program in KCC Corporation which fit well into Global Standard and constantly trying to spread compliance "culture" inside his company ever since. He led his compliance team to win 2016 ALB Korea In-house Team of the Year award. He is also in charge of Chairperson of the Seoul Bar Association In-house Counsel Committee and Vice-chairperson of the Korea In-house Counsel Association (KICA) Compliance Committee.  

Before joining KCC Corporation, Wankeun was the full-time professor in Ajou University Law School; and previously he worked as a litigator and legal advisor in Yulchon LLC and Woohyun-Jisan LLC (now Apex LLC). 

YooRee Kim, General Counsel, Legal & Compliance Officer, Teva-Handok Pharmaceutical Co.

YooRee Kim is the General Counsel and Legal & Compliance Officer for Teva-Handok Pharmaceutical Co. She graduated Seoul National University with a Bachelor of law and completed the master degree in commercial law(especially Oversees investment and Multinational corporation). She passed the Korean Bar exam and did Judicial Apprenticeship in JRTI. 

Before joining Teva-Handok, she worked in a Korean local Pharmaceutical company (Daewoong Pharm Co.) that she has specialty in Pharmaceutical industry. Also she worked in an IT company, NCSOFT one of the biggest Game company in Korea. Working as an in-house counsel she has many experiences especially in Compliance, M&A, Managing risks for the company and so on. 

Eun Young Oh, Manager & Legal Counsel, Overseas Legal Affairs Department, POSCO Engineering and Construction               

Ms Eun Young Oh joined POSCO Engineering and Construction 2008 and since 2008 have been working as a legal counsel. Practice areas focus on Architecture and Infra Structure (including hydro power plant) construction project including review of the commercial terms, participation in the negotiation and dispute resolution (litigation and arbitration).  

She graduated from Seoul National University, with a Bachelor of Arts, majored in German Language and Literature and minored in Law. She also obtained an LL.M degree from University of Southern California (United States of America) and is admitted in the New York State Bar.

Ji-hyun Cho, Legal Counsel and Compliance Officer, Novo Nordisk Korea

Ji Hyun Cho is Novo Nordisk Korea’s legal counsel and compliance officer. She has an extended experience in the area of the health industry, encompassing the pharmaceuticals, medical device, licensing and distribution within the health industry. 

In particular, she has an experience and expertise in many IP license deals that is the first and largest scale in the Korea pharma industry. Before joining Novo Nordisk Korea, she worked as a Director of legal department and chief compliance officer at Hanmi Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. Ms. Cho received Executive LL.M. degree from Northwestern Law School, Korea and business economics from KAIST Master of Intellectual Property in 2014. She received her LL.B. from the Yonsei University College of Law in 2002 and she is a member of Korea Bar Association. Ms. Cho’s most recent study include: The analysis on protection scope of the trade dress under the Korea trademark law. 

Stella Kim, Senior Solutions Sales Specialist, Thomson Reuters Legal

Based in Seoul, Korea, Stella is responsible for legal solution sales for the business growth and revenue of the legal business at Thomson Reuters in Korea. She handles all matters pertaining to the sales cycle of legal solutions to legal professionals, corporations and government institutions, and has previously worked with many high level customers in Korea. 

Prior to her current position, Stella was a team leader in Elsevier, where she was responsible for the exposure and sales of knowledge solutions to the academic and government sectors. Combined with this previous position, she has more than 20 years of knowledge management experience spanning the legal, IT, science and technology sector in Korea. 

Stella holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sogang University, MBA from Kukmin University and Master of Arts degree from New York University.

Sara Ann, Legal Product Specialist, Thomson Reuters Legal

Sarah is currently a Product Specialist for Thomson Reuters Legal Products, in Korea. Her main responsibilities include providing product demos to potential customers, as well as in-depth/customized product trainings to customers, assisting with legal research from time to time, and providing product presentations at Thomson Reuters seminars.

Prior to her current position, Sarah spent 3 years as an in-house counsel for a Korean B2B company, working on various corporate and legal matters, contract reviewing/drafting, and working on the legal side of business projects, most of which were international. 

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts (major in Economics) and Bachelor of Law conjoint degree from the University of Auckland, and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2012
